Reebok are the Godfathers of Crossfit. It's ever growing popularity in the UK is only an indication to the success it has received internationally.

fourfits have previously participated in a Crossfit session once last year. But since it's not part of our fitness regime I think it's fair to say that we still consider ourselves newbies. A few weeks ago I got to watching the previous Crossfit games and have recently shown an increasing interest into the sport. So when an an amazing opportunity landed in our inbox to attend the Reebok Crossfit '#Break Your Selfie' event in London earlier last week, we were all so excited that we booked the day off to attend! True commitment right there!

Better, Stronger, More Determined Humans. Capable of Anything. To honour our bodies and sharpen our minds. To Be More Human

We live in a society where image and appearance plays a pivotal role in our everyday lives. It has now become a norm to find a gym buff taking a selfie before, during or after a session. #BreakYourSelfie is aimed to rebel against the shiny perfect image that we all like to portray ourselves as, in our selfie pics, but rather show the real face. The struggling face. The far from perfect face that we all display when we are at our most depleted. It encourages us 'To Be More Human'. I absolutely love that!

The event was held in Reebok Crossfit Thames gym based in East London. I was already anxious about the class on route, so when I entered the building my eyes were instantly drawn to the rings and my initial thought was 'Oh crap, I can't do a pull up?!!' Luckily my anxiety was temporarily replaced with euphoria when I was handed a box filled with goodies - and let me tell you Reebok definitely spoilt us! We were given a complete Crossfit kit (down to the socks!) to look the part.

Once the session had started, our instructors gave us a brief breakdown as to what we were to expect. We were given 3 warm ups followed by 3 reps of WOD. If you're unfamiliar with crossfit lingo, WOD stands for Workout Of the Day. This consisted of 1 minute dumb bell thrusts, 1 minute burpees and 2 minutes rowing. And there's me thinking 'This is going to be easy'. I started my first rep as my usual over confident self ensuring my form was on point (pretty sure it wasn't though). I was going through as many as I could within those precious minutes. In between each rep we were rewarded with a 2 minute break. I thought 'I GAT THIS!'.

I then continued with renewed perseverance and then 20 seconds to go til the end of the first exercise during the second rep, fatigue settled in. I'm not talking about slight tiredness - yawn. No, full on exhaustion. I know I'm not the fittest female in the game but c'mon surely I was better than that?! I'm not much of a shy person so if I need to grunt to get that last set in, I will, and boy did I.

We ended the session on a high with both instructors cheering us on to get as many reps done within the last 30 seconds of rowing. A surge of achievement and relief quickly washed over as we all cheered and hi-fived one another.

What I like the most about Crossfit is the community and sense of family that surrounds it. It's very much a sport where encouragement from peers is the key to success. You work and push one another as a team to gain your personal best. It focuses on short bursts of high intense exercises. So regardless of time, you'll be able to fit in an hour of the usual gym workout within half an hour. Perfect for our busy London lifestyle!

We met some incredible people during the event including the charismatic and fitness fanatic Elliot Wright (@elliotwright_) from TOWIE and Crossfit competitor and athlete Becky Pykett. This woman is a true definition of #fitspo! Her physique is envious to any woman out there (gheeze her back was insanely ripped) and her personality was an amazing addition. Follow her journey over on Instagram @beckypykett to see more of her in action! Both are heavily involved in the #BreakYourSelfie campaign across all social media.

If you would like to be a part of this campaign, it's so simple all you have to do is work hard, sweat loads during training and when you feel near broken take a post work out selfe using the hashtag #BreakYourSelfie to show what a real athlete looks like. Remember to also tag @ReebokUK on Instagram and Twitter. If you want more information on this campaign, head over to: reebok.com/bemorehuman

As I finish this post, let me leave you with this video from the campaign that has left me motivated and inspired to become a stronger and fitter individual.

What a great way to kick start my morning!
